In Ice & Snow, Take It Slow!

The first "big" snowfall of the year finally has come. Although it has been a rather mild winter in Ohio, Mother Nature has a funny way of changing things up on us in the blink of an eye. The snow (in most cases) shouldn't scare you away from all of your planned adventures; however, it also shouldn't be taken lightly. Road conditions are something to always be aware of. Using caution in icy and snowy conditions is key when traveling on the state roadways.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has created a series of Public Service Announcements to remind drivers to be careful. They use parodies and a tongue-in-cheek style in the videos, but the message is incredibly serious. All OHventures should take note of the following tips this winter (and always):

1. IN ICE & SNOW, TAKE IT SLOW!

2. ALWAYS WEAR YOUR SEATBELT

3. DON'T DRIVE DISTRACTED

As a side note, yes, that is my voice narrating the second video (hahaha); and I appear riding on the cart in the third video! I can not express the importance of these tips. No matter how long you've been driving, it is pertinant to give 100% attention to keep yourself, your passengers, and the traveling public as safe as possible.

You can also read my previous post for Ohio Driving Tools such as a website that tracks the ice and snow conditions of the state. You may also be interested in checking out the post on Hitting The Road and how to plan a great day trip!

Whether you are heading to a ski resort, going on a winter hike, or just driving to dinner, be sure to remember all of these tips!
