Celebrate Local is one of the newest stores to open at Easton Town Center in northern Columbus...and it is a GENIUS idea.
Over 170 vendors from all corners of the Buckeye state have brought their Ohio-made products to one centralized location. There's jams from Ann's Raspberry Farm in Fredericktown; salsa from A Bit Of Bite Salsa in Miamisburg; meat from Ohio Bison Farm in Grove City; and eggs and poultry from Manchester Hills Farm in Circleville.
Shelves and shelves of goodies honey, cupcakes, beauty products, handmade bags, popcorn, dips, tea, coffee, jewelry, aprons, clothing, candies, produce, pasta, and MORE
Some of my favorite local Ohio vendors previously featured on OHventures also have their goods for sale at Celebrate Local: The Candle Lab, Camelot Cellars, Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, and Brother's Drake Mead.
I've made a few purchases at Celebrate Local, for myself and for others, including decadent cabernet sauvignon from Wyandotte Winery, perfectly creamy and spicy Buff-Lo Dip straight from Dublin, and the odd yet magical pumpkin pie salsa from CaJohn's Fiery Foods.
The idea for Celebrate Local was concocted by Heidi Maybruck who also organizes the Easton Farmers Market throughout the year. Due to the success of the Farmers Markets, Heidi felt she could transform the concept into a store. Sure enough, Heidi's idea came to fruition at the end of 2011 when Celebrate Local was born. The store has been a hit! Vendors often make appearances at the stores to have tastings for their products, or even book signings (such as Nick Dekkar of Breakfast With Nick). There are also fun events taking place at the store, and a friendly staff to show you the ins and outs of all things local.
Something about the feeling of buying local truly makes your purchase feel that much more special. Buying local is great to support the local economy, and to taste and experience all that Ohio has to offer!
